Benchmark boards for many years. Outstanding performance is in their DNA. For the new generation we focused on improving the overall feel to the shapes. The smaller sizes of the Pro Edition (77, 84, 92) come with a thruster setup. No other brand offers that in this segment. Already the 2011 boards had outstanding wave abilities - the new thruster setup projects them even further ahead of the competition.

SHAPE
We went shorter and more compact, bringing the centre of gravity and widest section closer together. This guarantees balance and stability, whether planing or not. Due to various footstrap positions we also focused on the deck radius. The tail thickness increased slightly to create a rounder constant dome, producing good grip and a very comfortable stance no matter if your foot placement is close to the rail or more towards the center line. The rail radius is kept thin and sharp to offer great grip in the turns. The outline is more drawn out around the tail and straighter between the straps, adding planing surface for better low end performance and additional pop. Consequently it creates a longer rail line offering more control in high speed runs and surfing big ocean swells. The footstraps moved slightly back - allowing you to use the fuller outline radius for snappy turns by pushing on the back foot. It also creates additional speed in more drawn out turns when applying more pressure on the front foot The bottom is equipped with a constant Vee and double concaves running through. The flat curve in the concaves between the straps delivers great early planing and speed while lots of curve in the rail line provides good maneuverability. The double concaves under the mast base cushion the ride over chop. By moving the centre of gravity closer to the flat section of the bottom curve the boards jump easy to the plane. Combined with a fair tail kick the boards have great release and offer outstanding maneuverability

SUMMARY
The Freestyle Waves offer an incredible wide range of use. From wave riding to freestyling to full-on speed blasting. The three small Pro Editions can now handle any kind of wave conditions (from side-on to side-off) because of the Thruster setup. The range of use of all Freestyle Waves is as wide open as your ambition and mind.

Qualche anno fa quando si noleggiava una tavola JP bisognava sempre pagare il sovrapprezzo rispetto al normale costo del noleggio F2...adesso le 2 marche non sono più legate, ma entrambe hanno risentito delle vicessitudini di un mercato non proprio florido!!!

Comunque quando ho prenotato la mia JP versione Pro, mi sono detto voglio il meglio del meglio. Ma qualcosa è andato storto...quando ho preso in mano la tavola per la prima volta, nonostante la mia eccitazione ho purtroppo notato subito un peso eccessivo, strano veramente per una Pro edition di 92 lt...non spiegabili con la protezione in prua tipica delle scuole. Per il resto la tavola si presenta bene con rifiniture di pregio e la famosa dotazione a 3 pinne, che però possono anche essere tolte(2) per un uso più freeride. Non c'è che dire, il Thruster è bello da vedere con le 2 piccole nere e con la grande di forma innovativa che ci ricorda le Maui Fin. Lo shape nuovo è bello compatto, 228 cm e largo, stessa larghezza nelle misure più piccole e differenza larghezza.

Salta all'occhio

La versione Pro ha il grigio Pro e sufficiente parte di carbonio a vista, quindi è grintosa e tuttosommato molto bella, devo dire che già nella rastrelliera fa il suo effetto...

La mononocromia grigio Pro è comunque ben spezzata da una vampata rosso fuoco che ben risalta sulla grafica, almeno in coperta.

Alla prova:

E' la prima volta che provo un FW con 3 pinne, ma non so se in condizioni normali sia la scelta giusta, effettivamente con 3 pinne ha un assetto che si può apprezzare bene solo tra le onde. In condizioni di chop la tavola è sì ben stabile e veloce, ma un pò troppo incollata all'acqua, molto poco aerea. Però è veloce stramba bene con un raggio che sembra calcolato scientificamente, non richiede molta pressione e riparte velocemente. Molto buona la facilità di assetto che invita a stare alti sulla tavola, ma tranquilli, anche se vi piazzate in assetto slalom lo spin out è impossibile!!
Certo il trhuster rende la tavola all'occorrenza una vera tavola wave, rendendola molto versatile, in condizioni normali si può provare la pinna singola, che deve essere almeno 2/4 cm più lunga. Così la tavola è più nervosa ma ugualmente manovriera, più simile alle sensazioni di un Freemove collaudato, la propensione al bump & jump aumenta, sempre un pò troppo sbilanciato però il peso in avanti per decollare, meglio la sensazione da rotazione intorno alla prua tipica da Freestyle. Per concludere una tavola estremamente polivalente, vera tavola unica per venti medi forti ma in ogni disciplina merita un voto diverso!!!
